Tesla Discontinues Model X and Model S

Meh....according to the link AG posted there was a 3.7% decrease year on year in the segment.

Tesla was expected to lose market share, but still leads the segment by an enormous amount.
The S&X were a distraction from the market making cars.

The "big guy" competitors are (sadly) an also ran, They never materialized with competitive units.
VW and Hyundai having better cars in the segment.

This segment will survive loss of taxpayer largess, but the old guard still requires it to move 1/2 tons and large SUV's.

Model X bttery solution?

The Model S has owned that segment for years. Even with a sharp decline, it only trails the BMW 7er…which is surprising to me, I’m not a fan of the latest 7er

What? Tesla discontinues the Model S ? That's their flagship model. 😯
The problem is the X and the S are expensive and have finicky complicated features. People complain about the door handles on the Y and the 3(mostly non owners), but the motorized handles on the S are a regular failure item. I've driven many Model S and they're nice, but I just think the Y and the 3 are the easy choice for a simpler and very efficent EV.

Plus the doors on the X are super cool but apparently finicky. If the back doors don’t work correctly how is it a practical family vehicle? I’m sure most of them are fine but it seems like a quarter of Tesla posts on social media are about issues with the falcon wing doors.

My wife wanted a Model X. She was even looking at used ones when I said I didn't want to pay as much as what I new one costs. I think the Y is by far a better vehicle. She loves hers now and I think she understands where I'm coming from with it, but I understand what she likes about the X. I just don't want to own one or deal with it.

Red, white, and blue are the best Tesla colors! And yes of course I listed them in that order on purpose lol.

For that matter, I think the previous model especially in Performance trim and the badges pulled which I hadn't done yet on mine in the previous picture just has more visual impact to me than the X.

Rode in one last week with my coworker. It feels like a roller coaster, hard to close it if you are short, the windshield is cool but I can imagine a replacement can cost $1k easily due to the sheer size. The door motor repair likely will be a couple grand each due to the weight and size. I can see why people won't want to pay for it and select the Y instead, the coolness gets old real fast if you have to pay for all those.

The model x door I read is a 6k dollar replacement if out of warranty.

Tesla just raised the price $15,000 on all remaining model X and S due to it being "the end of an era and collectable ".

Collectible typically means that your product is non perishable. Do they have a 3rd party generic battery pack for them yet? I would have to say however if you want collectible you should get the Roadster instead.

You just have no sense of humor when it comes to these vehicles. It is funny, who cares what people think. This is funny too..

I do have a sense of humor, but there are some that take these plugged in generators as serious and there's no helping those people. I'm all for a good joke, but the verbally abusive haters are just tiring to me at this point. When you've lived with these cars for 3+ years now it gets old. Having people in person approach you with "defend your choice!" attacks when I don't even want to talk about the car in a public setting is just exhausting. It still happens with people I work with when I go a few months without seeing them. It always turns political too. I genuinely hate this part of ownership. It sucks. Ugh.

Obviously on the internet it's easy enough to just close the browser. That I get. This is the actual avenue for those conversations and there are days that I just close the browser and walk away. I have other interests than EVs. I have other car interests than EVs. It's so stupid that owning an EV means being constantly bombarded with stupidity. Even here trying to have an actual conversation is circumvented by some tool going "WAIT TILL THE BATTERY DIES AND BURNS DOWN YOUR HOUSE!" or "PANEL GAPS!"

Spare me, please.
