Terminology oil chemist or engineering

Ran across Car Quest ad for Castrol syntec it was listed as "aceite synthetic"? I never seen that before but them I never pay much attention to Castrol anymore.
Word not in the dictionary so I'm assuming it specific to the oil industry?
