I see the problem, even if you sent the VOA and UOA out for free you wouldn't believe the results either. Sometimes using a product that others don't approve of is best kept your little secret. Or if you suggest something and see it isn't holding water here, back off, then keep it your little secret.

No challenge, no resistance, no endless days of these threads. JMO

Hi, again.
Just some words about things that can have affected this testing: I use a K&N airfilter, and this filter have not been cleaned since May 2006(some 45000 miles).
I have been using the same type of oil, RP5/30. The UOA I did in October 2006, also had a maintenance dose of Auto-Rx .
Another thing I should have done better, is the sample taking, because I only let the engine idle some 4-5 minutes before I took the sample now in May. Don't know if this will make much difference.
The results:

Date May 13-2007 October 03-2006
Total miles 112181 96200

Fe Iron ppm 115 104
Al Aluminium ppm 16 39
Cr Crome ppm 4,5 4,1
Cu Copper ppm 20 14
Ni Nickel ppm 0,0 1,9
Pb Lead ppm 3,3 1,8
Sn Tin ppm 0,0 0,0
Si Silisium ppm 64 54
Na Natrium ppm 12 81

FTIR4 DIES/JETA1% I.R NO NO
FTIR3 Water % 0,34 FTIR2 Glycol I.R NO NO
FTIR1 Soot % 1% 0,8%
FTIR5 Nitration abs 11 11

I am very satisfied with the reduction in Aluminium and Nickel, but not the Fe increase.
When you compare this UOA with a 3000 mile UOA, you must divide the wear numbers with 5,3 to get simmilar ppm for every mile driven.

I paid $101 for this simple UOA here in Norway, this is why I don't do this more often.

My next UOA will be free and they will also test TBN, since they don't have been testing this oiltype before(Synlube).
I will be doing this test(VOA) in the middle of June.

How many miles are on this oil in 22 years, how many miles is this car driven in a year.

How about letting bruce381 or Molakule test this oil out.

How about letting us get a VOA on this Synlube.

I would love to see what the valvetrain looks like on this Synlube oil that has been in this car for 22 years.

Apparently there was only one bitgo guy who tried this Synlube demarpaint, and the dealership told him his engine was badly sludged up and they used two flushes to clean it up. And then they installed conventional motor oil and the problems he had been experiencing with his car seemed to go away.

There have been three or maybe four of these Synlube fans here. Or supposedly there were more than one. There was a bitgo guy here who brought up some interesting bits of information about all of that but I wouldn't go into it.

I don't think these Synlube guys have any intention of supplying a VOA or UOA of their oil. Other motor oil manufacturers don't seem to have a problem with people testing their oils. The only way we would get a VOA would be to buy some of this stuff and have it tested ourselves. I would not waste my money buying a quart of this stuff.

I don't have any brand loyalty nowadays. I used to when I was young but not anymore. Whichever oil tests the best here is fine with me. I am trying Pennzoil Ultra right now but I would be willing to switch to another oil like maybe Mobil 1 HM. I just want to use a good quality motor oil in my car. And for the best price possible. It does not matter if it is Pennzoil, QS, Mobil 1, Valvoline, Chevron, Castrol, or whatever. Some people say that QS is good but tends to be ignored. I have not really payed much attention to QS at Wal-Mart but if QS synthetic oil was available at a very good price I would try it. I guess nobody can accuse me of trying to push some certain brand of motor oil. Kind of different from somebody who claims to be disinterested and yet pushes a brand of oil no matter what. Somebody who pushes a certain brand of motor oil that hard deserves a 'Customer of the Year' award at least.

There is a member here who is trying Lubegard Engine Flush. I will see what his results are and if he has good luck I may order some myself. Otherwise I am not much into any kind of supplements anymore. I might try MMO in the gas at least. I will use Stabil in the lawnmower gas if needed but otherwise I will just use fresh gas. I like Regane in the clear bottle for the fuel in my car. A couple times a year is okay. And other products I use only if necessary.

I notice that the good Captain Kirk's star seems to be fading. I guess the 'Results Are Not In'! Probably on a mission of great importance in a remote sector of the galaxy. I wonder if the Federation recommends Mobil 1 oil in its fleet of vehicles just like many automakers recommend Mobil 1 today.

I don't know about you demarpaint but I enjoy being frozen in time. I am not ready to buy $32.00 a quart motor oil with nothing but some people I do not know carrying on endlessly about how great it is. Like you I am going to try to stay cool, smart, and save my money also on proven products.

I guess we can be frozen in time, because [censored] will freeze over before I waste $32.00 to buy a qt of the stuff. I don't have to prove anything about Synlube. The Synlube people have to prove to me the product is good. So far I read a few rants from some people I don't know, nor care to know pitching the product. No facts just hype, [censored], and insults.

If the product is as good as they say it is sending a VOA for a free analysis would clear a lot of things up. I don't see it happening anytime soon. So I guess its on with our frozen existances, narrow minds, and use of out dated products. Oh well!

Loc: Millbrae, CA synlube is an industry joke do not try it, like "a sucker born every minute" deal other than that 5/20 is Ok to use. tho I perfer a 5 or 10/30 myself but I'm a old timer.

I may have mentioned my suspicions, regarding certain members having multiple accounts, and pushing this synlube. I hear over and over, that their are tens of thousands of users of this product...However after searching, I can find no CREDIBLE UOA/VOA's of the product, ANYWHERE on the internet.

The way these people are pushing this and attacking the non-believers...Sorry Ankhmaat/Jonny-B or whomever, I just don't accept some typed in numbers...Surely there is a PDF/JPG of some document scanned from a reliable lab/company showing something on this oil... I mean come on, tens of thousands of people are using it.

So, you don't want to spend $32 on a qt?
At the same time, you would like me to use 4 or 5 times MORE on a UOA that gives me nothing, since I don't have to prove for myself that it is working?

And, it will give me nothing if Synlube increase their sales, either, since I am not on their payroll.

You can also see that there are unique users behind these different names, if you bother to check the IP address and location.

Interesting writing by DracoFelis.

Hi.

After the reactions from other members here, I decided that I wouldn't provide any additional info for them.
Besides, I thought I had been driving it to short, at the time.

I also thought(judging by the reaction from members)that they would be better of finding it themselves, in a suitable way.

Whatever that is.

jonny-b, it seems bruce381 will do a free VOA, here is my question to you, if I call Miro tommorow will he send me a quart of this Synlube if I pay $32.00, and will he still sell me a quart if I tell him that I am getting a VOA done on it and that I will be posting the results on BITOG and that other board.

Hi, c3po.

I really don't know.
I don't have any contact with Miro.
Last time I had any contact with him, was about a year ago, via e-mail.

I can not see any problem why he should not sell you any of his oil.

If you do this, I think it would be fair if someone of the persons here doing most of the yelling, would contribute with a few dollars, so that you don't end up paying for all of it.

Just an idea.

It is very easy to transfer a few bucks via PayPal.

By the way, I think it is a very nice gesture from Bruce381, to do this.

By the way.
If I was being dishonest about any of my statements about Synlube, why would I inform you about when I drained it?

Another thing, on the Noria board, I saw that I drove it 72000 kilometers, not 73000, as I stated here.
I can check the log, but I guess it won't do much difference, except that a lot of fun can be made of it.
Enjoy.

Very nice of you c3po, the question is why bother? "They're" selling the product, not you. "They" would have to prove the product lives up to all the hype "they" created. Let "them" put their money by their mouths. After all "they" are getting a free VOA out of the deal! Forget about a UOA, I wouldn't trust the sample.

When one of the mfgs of products I use comes out with the latest and the greatest product to sell, "they" give me a sample to try. If I like it I buy more, if not I don't. Synlube won't get a cent of my money, let them prove it to me, on their dime how great their oil really is. They came here to sell product, that is pretty clear, all you need is a few ounces for Bruce, not a quart. I'm pretty sure they can afford that, unless they don't want a VOA, if so then you'll have to pay.

No I won't spend $32 on a qt, especially since the only person who thinks this stuff is good is you. When a majority of respected members says its good, then I'd consider it. For $32 I can change my oil and filter and have some $$$ left over. Best way to keep an engine clean is to get the dirty oil out. Having wear metals floating around in an engine is not a good idea, especially for 150,000 miles. Think about it.

So you get nothing for selling the product. Oh OK. Then maybe you should give up on this one.

Checking IP addresses means nothing. I can walk across the street and use my buddies computer and be whoever I want. [/quote]

You never had any intentions of providing any. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence to back them up. You fail.

You guys are insane to pay $90-$125 for used oil analysis. All these years, I thought it costs like $9.95 including shipping!

For the cost of one single oil analysis, I can change the oil in that vehicle 8 times.
