In Mons, Belgium, every year they have an event called "Tanks in Town." It's a parade of tanks and other WWII vehicles, along with a little bit of re-enactment, and some trials of these vehicles on dirt roads. The videos are awesome, but it would really be exciting to be there.

It's in commemoration of the liberation of Belgium by the 3rd Armored Division.

There have the 101 surrounded them poor [censored]

Locally we had a pretty cool WWII museum. They would run a few of the machines too. The guy who owned it got into the legal issues and 50% of the "merchandise" was auctioned off.

Pretty disappointed when I went there last month.

That's pretty amazing seeing all that 70 year old American iron still in good working condition and all at the same location at once - amazing event.

From what I understand, many Belgians today are still very thankful for American sacrifice in the war unlike many other European countries who have forgotten.

Very true. If the USA was neutral like was promised by both candidates during the Presidential elections in 1940 and as Switzerland was, then those other allies would be speaking German now.

Operation Market Garden, with the modern army getting involved and the Germans not around.

The Tigers come out to play, with that high velocity 88.

Agree 100%. While lots of Allied countries sacrificed as well, the industrial might and will power of the USA ended the war (as well as the Russians conscripting every peasant they could and throwing them on the lines. Some Russians didn't even have weapons and were expected to pick up a rifle from a dead comrade). It was appalling how fast France fell. Instead of shedding more blood, they decided to surrender and wait for the allies to come save them. It ticks me off to this day. Britain would have fought to the death to every last man woman and child before surrender. The USA would fight to the death to every last man woman and child before being subjected to Japanese/German/Russian rule. The French said ah screw it, lets be Germans for a couple of years until the Allies come save us.
