hey guys my truck (2002 tacoma 4x4) just uses multi puropose bearing grease. any recomendations?? mobile 1 syn multi purpose??

I have a tacoma 4wd as well and i'm looking for some grease for the u joints and various lube points on the truck. After reading a little on the moly thread just down a page i figure i might give the caterpiller moly 5 grease a try. If anyone can steer me away i would be happy to hear it.

The 4Runner actually specifies two different greases, one for the U-joints and a different one for the slip joint. So, I'd look at the owner's manual and then look for something that fits.

yeah the tacomas call for different greases but after to talking to a few yota mechanics they said any chassis/ wheel bearing grease would do fine. they use valvoline multi purpose.. i just bought some mobile 1 synthetic grease and i can tell you that it works and works well! i could tell a difference. it takes some of the vibrations and little noises that the drive shaft makes. smoother on the slip yokes too. its only 6-8$ a tube and a tube will last you a few times. i regrease about every other to every third oil change..

mikeg5 i have 430,000 miles on my Tacoma and the front end is all original . I use MYSTIK JT-6 Hi-Temp grease this is the best grease i ever used , and i tried all the leading synthetics.

430k miles?? wow now thats good.. have you done anything to the motor or transmission (if its auto) give us some details. thats a ____ load of miles haha

Man thats pretty good, what are your secrets other than driving on the freeway.

You absolutely will NOT go wrong using Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp EP #2 on all the Zerks on your Toyota front & rear shafts. It is one of the best greases available for universals and wheel bearings. There has been a lot of contraversy on BITOG on whether or not to use Moly. on the U-Joints (& wheel bearings). However, I do NOT believe anyone (who knows what he/she's talking about) will tell you not to use this particular Mystic grease for your specific application.

Yea the comfort is one thing even more so after adding Donahoe coilovers and replaced the so called rear TRD setup with Deaver 8 pk leafsprings and Bilstein 5125 series gas shocks...but still love her. Ive had to replace the steering pump under warrenty and had the lower ball joint recall, other that that shes be flawless.

Hey Arb where are you at in Texas? I am in the metroplex and am interested in your suspension. If we are close I would like to check it out sometime if possible. I have an 03 dubcab 4x4 TRD.
