Synthetic vs Blend.. not the same age old question

The 1.8T(Was looking at buying one of the Passat GLS 1.8T's but decided against it given all their electrical and sludge problems). Buying a used VW 1.8T is like playing Russian Roulette, given how people now a days don't take care of their cars. The turbo's don't cause the sludge if "IF" the people driving the cars took care of them. With a turbo a good synthetic and a low OCI(3-3.5k, maybe 4 really depends on your driving) you would be pretty sludge free.

Conventional at 3k OCI would be fine, but some of these people lease a car or keep it short time and beat the snot out of it with 1 or 2 oil changes in their ownership. The leave the problem to some poor individual with an out of warranty vehicle. I know to many people who run oil into a place none of us would want to. I was a 3k OCI Mobil 1 guy on my 01 Impala, a 5k Synpower guy on my 08 TC, and I just traded the TC for an 04 Xterra and doing a few 3k OCI's to make sure I get the [censored] out of the engine and then going for a 4.5k OCI with Valvoline Synpower and some YB Pennzoil.

Walmart jugs of Valvoline Synpower 5w30 for 21 bucks is a steal compared to what I used to pay for the quarts!
