Synthetic molecule size

I tried searching, but couldn't find the right keywords to find what I wanted.

We all know synthetic molecules are uniform, but are they larger, smaller, roughly the same size so it doesn't matter and people are stupid for thinking it "slips" into places it shouldn't when compared to an average conventional oil of the same viscosity?
