I failed to find a dexos1 10W30. http://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand1/
I would imagine 10w30 isnot a recommended viscosity so why would a company play for the licensin.

That makes sense. I did not realize GM did not have 10w30 as a spec anymore.

Still, I wonder if the syn percent is different between the Magnatec 5w30 and 10w30.

Not that it would change anything for me, I still plan on using the Mgnatec 10w30 I have in my mom's Saturn Vue (GM6094M requirement, not Dexos).

My question is why would spend more for an inferior product?

That's now, a few years ago I had some left over conventional, I think it was $10 for a 5 quart jug with filter at Pepboys before Mobil started doing their rebate or rather their rebate wasn't honored at Walmart at the time. And if the car is a leaker, it doesn't really matter if you put synthetic or conventional in, it's going to leak out so you put the slightly cheaper conventional in. i started out with a blend and then just topped up with conventional.

There is a lot of love here for semi-synthetic Magnatec, MaxLife and Pennzoil Gold.

Any DuraBlend users out there ? I have some in my stash and a oil change is coming up soon.

+1 on the Motorcraft being a 50/50 blend ; Pennzoil and Quakerstate blends also state 50/50 blend.

I think it was hard to nail down but there were claims that Motorcraft oil was a 50/50 synthetic blend although most manufacturers don't say what the percentage split is. I used to just make my own by throwing in a couple quarts of synthetic with conventional. Did over 200k on the car before the transmission died.

Make your own blend. Whatever suits your personal taste (33% or 50%) blend. I did it for 11-12 years and mostly used 50% blends. You can even be a tribologist that mixes manufacturer names.....ie.... Pennzoil and Castrol. Did that plenty also. Never an issue and never had to reduce OCIs doing it.

I run the Motorcraft 5W-20 blend in my 2014 Mustang GT for over 5,000 miles with no problems. I run it out for a full year which the last time was about 6,000 miles. The year before that was 7,200 miles. The oil still looks very clean at the oil change.

It's hard to find around here. The last time I saw it, it was like $6.99 a qt. Yea good luck with that.

Menards and Orscheln's both stock Durablend at reasonable and occasionally sale prices. Since Maxlife is virtually the same thing and much easier to find I have always run Maxlife of the two.

Hi KCJeep,

Yeah I agree semi-syn MaxLife and semi-syn DuraBlend are very similar products. Here it's the other way around, lots of DuraBlend of various weights & grades. But only one MaxLife flavour here, it's 20W-50 only. It's one of our better 20W-50's, as it's semi-synthetic and Euro A3/B4 rated.

Ahh checked Menards site. It appears they do have it. Been a while since I've been there.
