They are called nitrile gloves and you can use them to avoid contact with the used oil. Then you take it to a approved facility to be disposed of. I even take my filters since they are hazardous waste, too.

15-20 minutes?? It take me an hour when I used to do it!

Jack up low clearance car

Carefully place jack stands under car

Lower car onto jack stands,carefully

Get correct wrenches

Get drain pan and out of shed/put under car

Remove oil drain plug/wait

Remove difficult oil filter. Change gloves again!!

Pre-fill oil filter several times.

Install pre-filled oil filter

intall drain plug

Jack car off stands.

lower car

Put tools/stands away

Install synlube lube-4-life/or you oil of choice

open other bottles and continue installing more oil.

Clean up mess and pour oil into container, messy!!

All in 15-20 minutes.....tops????

I think I would like to talk to the above Engineer,..who uses synlube lube-4-life,like I do!! He makes the most sense to me!

1. Slide under Expedition. Position drain pan so that it will get the oil from the filter dump funnel and the pan. Remove drain bolt. Remove filter.

2. Grease the entire front end while this is taking place.

3. Fill filter 3/4 full of oil.

4. Slide back under, put drain plug back in, spin on new filter.

5. Slide back out, dump in 6L of oil.

6. Start, check for leaks.

MAYBE 15 minutes.

The synlube gear oil also lowers differential temperature. I have synlube in the jeep rear diff, and the mustang rear as well. The jeep front is next in the list.

Never took actual temperature of oil,but after a good 60 mile run on highway at 65-80 mph for about one hour, the differential was too hot to touch for long. After the synlube was installed, and driven under the same exact conditions, differential was only slightly warm to touch.

Factory 75w-140 ford and mopar fluid was replaced with synlube 75w-90 in both cases. I really don't need to use the 140 weight, and synlube has that as well for very heavy towing.

Go to son's place

Play with grand children (TRY to keep them busy).

Get some dialog going.

SON: "Dad, the bolts came off before I was ready. What's all this red fluid all over the garage floor?"

Quit playing with grand children.

Rescue son from underneath jeep. Grab his feet and apply defibrillator. (Just kidding).

Mop up floor of NEW garage.

Dad goes in for shower.

Grandpa now under car.

Grandchildren: "Whatcha doing underneath there, grandpa??

"Trying to put dad's car back together."

Remove filter, replace filter, tighten all but one bolt on pan, cannot locate last bolt.

Grandaughter: "Grandpa, Mark won't give me back that thingy I found on the driveway!"

"What thingy.?"

"The thingy I found rolling down the driveway when dad was yelling bad words."

"Maaark! Give me that thingy!"

Mark: "Okay, but I want an ice cream cone."

Grandpa: "okay, okay, just give the thingy."

Put last bolt in pan, fill with new Redline to spec, which I gave son for Christmas.

Start engine, check fluid cold and hot. Shut off engine; no leaks. Whew!

Grandpa goes in for shower.

Get out of shower.

Son has barbeque on grill. Eat barbeque.

Play with grandkids again.

Go to Baskin Robbins for ice cream.

Life is good!

Leave.

I hope you had gloves on when you touched that differential to check the temperature captain_kirk. After all, a differential can get dirty. Maybe not as dirty as an oil change but dirty.

And one of the Synlube fans here said that anybody who does oil changes has no life.

Well, I have done a lot of oil changes in my life. And I am actually quite proud of it.

No life, I think crawling under a car to touch the rear to see if it is hot, cool, or cold is lacking life. But then again what ever floats your boat.

Of course with that wonderful Synlube you don't have to do but one oil change. And you have a mechanic do that of course. The mechanic has no life.

Maybe have the mechanic check that differential temperature also. The differential is dirty also!

I read somewhere (I think some technical manual) that full impulse does not equal light-speed. If I am correct, travelling at warp speed prevents time dilation problems from occurring. If full impulse equalled light-speed, you would encounter the time dilation problem, and nobody wants that of course.Does star fleet manual can explain that? Maybe the dilithium matrix cause your overheating problem from your differential, we should ask Scotty about these problem.

Thanks, and my apologies to Gary A., but I just had to relate that story.

Watch son do work.

Get some dialog between us until DEMANDS exceed tolerance.

This is why my mom and dad do for their oil changes. Replace grandchildren with "grand dog." I play the "son" role.

If Synlube's business license has been revoked, can Synlube even be purchased in case someone wants to try it out in a beater?

I have a great beater that would be ideal, but I just don't drive it enough because it gets such lousy MPG.

Plus, my daily commutes are so short, that my oil rarely gets up to operating temp. I'm not sure my application would be very revealing.

It's being sold through another company. Same owner. How many miles on your beater? I ask because the owner has said that it's a waste of money on an engine that has 100K or more.

I think very few people here at bitgo would be willing to buy and try this Synlube stuff based on what has been learned here.

First, the stuff costs some $32.00 a quart. That makes just about any other motor oil look dirt cheap. At my local Wal-Mart Pennzoil Ultra in quart containers costs less than $7.00 a quart. And the Pennzoil Ultra will probably be more reasonable in cost once a person can buy it in 5 quart containers.

Second, there are so many questions regarding this Synlube stuff and so much questionable material has been brought up here that I personally would not try this stuff in an old beater, much less any car or truck that I cared about.

You guys have it right.
An oil change takes no time at all after the first time on any given car, at least any I have ever owned.

Hey this is an answer that you get from a "SPONSOR"

41. What is the specific weight percent of the following in Ultra:
1) sulfated ash wt. %
2) phosphorus wt. %
3) zinc wt. %
4) calcium wt. %

Pennzoil® has published the oil analysis of Pennzoil Ultra™ at www.pennzoil.com. More specific information than that is considered proprietary.

SHELL will not even tell you what UOA or VAO can, and you think that SynLube MUST disclose everything ?

Try to get the same specs out of any major Oil Co and they will either ignore you or tell you it is none of you business to know !@!!

ofcourse there is no such "oil analysis" on the web, at least I was not able to find it.

And to get any "Warranty" you have to change their most expensive oil every 4,000 miles or 4 months, so never mind the GM OIL LIFE monitor, the PENNZOIL "synthetic" is not even as good as GM OEM or Good Wrench oil !!!

And you want to pay premium for this ???

That should be a suspect !!!

Remember me? I am frozen in time. People post VOAs and UOAs here on just about any conventional or synthetic motor oil you can mention. But I have never seen a VOA or UOA on Synlube.

If I was a Synlube user and I was overwhelmingly impressed with how I was able to drive 150,000 miles on one oil change, I would be EAGER to post a UOA on such a wonderful product! I would want to share my knowledge of this wonderful product with everybody!

But I have not come across many Synlube users willing to post a UOA on this wonderful product. Synlube fans come here to this website and encourage everybody to use Synlube. But they don't seem very eager to post a UOA on this revolutionary motor oil. I wonder why?
