Having an inframe done and im wondering should i run syn oil after the first oil change ,such as AMSOIL Series 3000 Synthetic 5w30 Diesel Oil or others?

Also I think ill be in the oil field again maybe, and would like a secondary air filter to catch anything that gets passed the 1st one do they make one that i can use on a KW 2003 T-600 anywhere ?

If I ran a rig, I would defienetely lean towards a long drain synthetic.

Amsoil 5w30 is a great oil if thats the weight your engine calls for.

Also, what type of filter do you currently use?

If its in dusty conditions, maybe look for a prefilter?

Arent the turbo deisel intakes a cone style?

Not sure what cummins spec oils are beyond 15-40 s

air filter is donaldson and they are very slight cone to them almost cant tell by looking at them.

I would prefer the regular filter be the pre filter and to have a secondary safety filter.Do to limited space.

The Donaldson Endurance line of filters to replace the OEM filter would provide pretty good protection for a harsh environment without the need for secondary filter. As a side, I would use some brand of bypass filtration on the oil to clean up any silicon (dirt) that would make it thru the air filter(s). Especially if you are going to cough up the extra money for synthetic oil in the engine.

You might take a look at synthetic oil from Schaeffer. Darn good oil and more cost effective, especially in the amounts you will need for an ISX. And shipping is free to your door.

My ISX is an EGR version, but I "converted" it to pre-egr by unplugging the EGR valve. 30 seconds of time, no tools, no parts..... 1 full mpg better, runs cooler, and less soot. No problem with warranty work from Cummins either.
