Hey y'all long time lurker. Very impressed by your knowledge!

I have a 2008 Ford Explored v6 purchased used. I live in Hotternhell (San Antonio) TX. I have been running RP 5w30 but want recommendations for and different synthetic I can run on a slightly long OCI without the 60 buck OC cost. The vehicle runs daily 30 mi round trip to work and back and short trips on the weekend. We have had 5 or so 100 deg days already. Also, if you have any suggestions for ATF for the 5r55n transmission and what to put in the dif (and even coolant suggestions0 would be appreciated!

I have been leaning to QSUD and purolator filter (DRY AND DUSTY here), and I have no idea other than Mercon V for the transmission... (Dif and rear either)

Thanks Again Y'all!

QSUD is a very good oil for its price, you can basically run any cheap conventional that's on sale, like PYB, mobile 5000 or Valvoline, any of those should meets the few oil requirements for that engine.

I have an 05 Explorer 4.0 and I have used Mobil 1, Valvoline Syn, Quaker State Syn, and currently G Oil Syn in it with either Motorcraft or Purolator Pure 1 filters. No trouble at all with any of them.

I have Royal Purple 75w140 in the rear & Mobil 1 75w90 in the front.

I also have Mobil 1 Syn ATF in the Trans.

Motorcraft lubes and filters are excellent products and definitely worth considering, especially for the price. Otherwise, pick up some Pennzoil Platinum when it's on sale.

Coolant wise, Motorcraft Gold (G-05) would be an excellent choice.

disregard my post, i thought you said you were using 5w20 then i read it again.

Keep doing what you are doing.

Thanks for the info all! I do appreciate it. I guess I am a bit overboard but I like to keep my vehicles to 150k at least. I did go ahead and sign up for the QS 300k challenge and looking forward to see what happens.

Thanks again!
