Went by Walmart at lunch today. The Exxon-Mobil looking bottles Supetech is now $7.97 for a 5 quart jug.It is now more than the HM which was still $7.87.

Indeed with oil at $100+ now. I wonder if a pure sythethic like M1 is sensitive to oil prices except for competitive reason.

About a week ago I was in the oil section at Wal-Mart and their regular Super Tech 5w30 and 10W-30 was about a dime higher than Trop-Arctic in the single quart sizes. When you look at the prices that they are getting for their house branded oil filters and motor oil, does anyone (besides me) think they are pricing themselves out of the marketplace?

BTW, I didn't buy either product.

Did anyone notice that they have Super Tech High Mileage 5w30 now? It's $1.84 qt. I also noticed that it has the Starburst symbol on it, which is rare for a high mileage oil...

I think it's made by the Chevron Supreme guys cause it was in the same exact type of bottle. It has that little 3-D image of a hand pouring a bottle of oil near the top of the container. Man, I sound like a detective!

I agree, that's one of the reasons why I prefer to use Napa Proselects on most of the cars I maintain now, rather than the Supertechs. However, on a particular filter (the Supertech ST6607 for Kia, Nissan, etc.) it's cheaper to get the Supertech. It's nearly double for the Napa counterpart for some reason. But for the Napa 1040, it's a little bit cheaper than the Supertech oil filter. So that's what my mom's Malibu and sister's Daewoo get.

For the oil maybe, but not the filters. For $2.75 (at the moment I guess) you get a great little filter made by Champion Labs. But who knows where the prices are going.

Look on the bottle-bottom. What does it say? That would tell us if Warren no longer produces the Supertech brand there.

Dyoel182 For the oil maybe said:
The NAPA stores must have a little local pricing control. My NAPA sells the ProSelect for about $2.59 and the local Wal-Mart has their Super Tecs for $2.79. Plus the NAPA filter has the steel spring and steel end caps, at least in my application. I'll admit that if I had to drive out of my way to get them, I wouldn't be a buyer though.
