I guess ST oil and filters are okay if you don't mind paying more.
For less money (after MIR) you could be using Purolator Classic, Bosch D+ or Puro P1 oil filters along with Ultra, QSUD, PP, Synpower or G-Oil.
If you really want to save money, check the appropriate forum every now and then for sales, clearances and MIRs.
If you set up a rotating stash of oil and filters, you need never worry about the price or the quality of the ST product.
You end up with lower cost and better quality.
