Super Tech High Milage not API certified?

I was screwing around with my oil stash when I noticed my jug of ST HM didn't have any offical API symbols...

That is strange not to at least have the API Donut on there.

It lists it right on front under the 75001. just don't look to official.

I wouldn't trust it without an API Donut seal. See if you can return it to Walmart.

FWIW, when MaxLife first came out it didn't have the donut either. I called them then and they told me they didn't think it worth it to pay the fee for a niche product but assured me that it met the specs.

Well kind of...i think

one purpose is to make sure that the consumer knows that a certain product is up to a minimum standard,and i think it's a requirement for auto makers?

Without the API seal it could be Accel oil in there.

I wonder if it's a transition product where the label was printed between API standards.

The thick 10w40 doesn't meet "energy conserving" so it doesn't get the starburt.

Maybe it is to bring it in at a lower price point? The only other oil that I have noticed that didn't have an API symbol in walmart was Accel that just says "API SA"

I'm not to worried about it, I was going to run a short oci with MMO so I got a cheap oil. I decided to give ST HM a whirl.

IIRC API does not use the donut seal on any viscosities above 10w30 (only the SM or other designation will be shown). The oil shown here is 10w-40. This would explain the lack of the donut on this bottle. FWIW--Oldtommy

You guys are gonna make me drive to walmart and start inspecting labels... Oh man and I think they put Maxlife back on sale to for 13.50.

but I have seen API donuts on oils thicker than 10w30, unless HDEOs don't count.
