My wifes mini van, 90% city driving in temps from 20f to 90f with a 6 month OCI. Looking for an oil that allows a 1 year OCI as we drive the van around 8 to 9 K per year. The TBN and viscosity was too low for my taste to push this oil to a yearly OCI.

Just changed the oil to PU 5W-30 with a mobil one filter.

On the whole wear looks good in the first sample from your Sienna. Lead was a little high but we think this is likely due to a particle streak running through the bearings, rather than a problem developing there. No harmful contaminants were present in the sample and the slighly low viscosity isn't an issue. Our universal avgs show typical wear from the 3.3L after an oil run of 6,000 miles. This oil wasn't run quite that long, but it could have been. The TBN rear 1.7 so you still had some active additive left. 1.0 is a low TBN. check back in 6k Miles

That synthetic looks like it's good for about 5k in your application or 6months. It was def down into the 20wt region but wear metals look good.

I take it her 90% city driving isn't also "short trip"? That is, it's just not great at racking up numbers on the odometer.

Not too shabby a report there.

SSO 0w-30/ASL 5w-30 would manage a year easy enough. I even think the XLF 5w-30 would manage.

Mobil 1 5w20EP or 5w30EP

Should do 1 year OCI's....up to 15,000K...Should work well for your specs.

Cotinue to us a Mobil 1 filter

Gary
you are correct, most trips were from 2 to 10 miles- moving kids to school, groceries, ect. Not often really warmed up.

Thanks for your oil suggestions, checked out the Amsoil web-sight very informative for all my seven vehicles.

Thank you! Been waiting for a recent Super Tech UOA! Not a bad ST report. If your looking for a long term oil consider Castrol Edge or Penz Ultra. Those are popular 15k/1yr oils.
