I owned a wrx. I think Subaru changed to a smaller filter on the older turbo cars due to the exhaust pipe heating the oil filter to oblivion.

It's made by "Full" and based on the design on the can, is definitely intended to resemble the OEM Tokyo Roki.

I believe most (if not all) Fulls are made in Thailand.

While it's likely a perfectly serviceable filter, the "best quality filter you can buy" hyperbole is a bit of a stretch.

Had a '99 Forester and an '07 Impreza for awhile. I was buying six-packs of genuine Subaru 15208AA12A filters on Amazon for $25, which included new crush washers.

Are you referring to the black turbo filter?

Both filters in the links? The blue one for the non turbos is definitely a Six Star brand.

Yes, if you look closely at the image you can see the "FULL" logo on the can.

Wix makes filters to fit most Soobs, so maybe consider staying away from the el cheapo stuff. Or just use [Honeywell made] Subaru OEM which is an upgraded Fram. A lot of after market filters don't have the correct bypass pressure valve opening threshold tension on the spring. Wix does, as does OEM.

I don't know anything about those pictured. The Six Stars brand---is it made in China?

I've used Full brand filters on past Acura Legends, Acura RL's and Izuzu Troopers with no issues. It's more of a bargain brand like the Asian brand that begins with a "K." In general, maybe not as stout as Nippon and Toyo Roki.

When my free Subaru oil changes end, I'm changing to Fram Pro Synthetic FPS7317.

Six Star makes many of the OEM Subaru parts.

YMMV, but I had trouble with the square gasket leaking with a NAPA Gold 7055 in my FXT. I believe this filter is made by Wix and it looks the same as the Wix 57055s that I bought at O'Reilly, except for the color of the casing.
I know that plenty of people use Wix with no trouble, but I'm back to Tokyo Roki now. The blue Honeywells never leaked for me, but I just don't like the non-metallic casing.
