I came across a 5qt jug of Wal-Mart synthetic blend 5w30 SJ rated oil. Being the cheap SOB that I am, I am wondering if I could use this oil in my 2006 Civic and change it out at say a 5000 mile OCI rather than the 8000 miles I am accustomed to. Or should I just save it for the lawnmower? Please don't flame me too harshly! Other things I found; two quarts of the original Slick 50 treatment, must be 20 years old! A quart of Rislone oil treatment (yellow bottle) a quart of STP engine treatment (Slick 50 clone) and 2 metal cans of the original STP stuff (thick as honey). I also found an old quart of gas stabilizer-does that stuff go bad too? (probably does-I just hate throwing things away!)

I would use the oil for the summer OCI since your car calls for 5w20. The rest of that stuff I wouldn't use. The Rislone is probably OK but you don't need it in a 2006 model.

That itineration of ST syn was probabbly made by
the Quaker State affiliate in Shrevport and is most likely PAO based.

Its a Honda Civic, you could use SJ for the next 20 years no problem.

If I were you I would take it back and exchange it for the SM GF4 Supertech.

Before you put that in a new car, let me send you $10 for a jug of 5W-20 Motorcraft.

thanks for the offer Brett. I just did an oil change using the Motorcraft 5-20. I guess I'll have to use the Wally-Lube in my lawnmower and on my Mom's vibrator!

Do you think the Slick 50 will help keep the rust off of my Perazzi?

Take Care
