Storing Oil

How long can oil be stored? I have two cases of Schaeffers that I probably wont go through till next year.

We keep hundreds of quarts and gallon jugs of oil in the shop.....some for a couple of years before we get a application for that particular product/oil.....never an issue.....I'm superstitious though and shake each one before I pour it in

Not sure, but I think I may have read on Mobil 1's web site that their oil has a 5-year shelf life (additives break down over time). Don't quote me, though, because it's been a while since I've been to their site. I used to visit www.Mobil1.com a lot when I was still a fan of their oil, before I learned better

Several years. The biggest problem is extreme temperature swings.

The biggest problem is the manufacturer will have improved the oil before you get to use it.
