6.5 quarts of Shell Rotella T 15w40 and 1 bottle of ARX.

In 1500 miles I do the 2000 mile rinse with Rotella 15w40, Delo 400 15w40, or Valvoline 10W-40.

Then its Castrol GC 0w30 at 7K oci's

600 miles on the cleaning phase and engine already feels smoother and quieter. No noticeable change in MPG, but the sound of the engine at full throttle is nicer and engine pulls stronger.

I ordered five more bottles of ARX for our work truck!

I changed the spark plugs and the leaking [ long before ARX ] valve cover gasket and had a good look at the the top of the engine.

Suprisingly clean for 150K. I can't tell how much is from the 750 miles of ARX cleaning, and how much shows acceptable maintenance by prior owners.

The is only the slightest discoloration that might be extremely light varnish. The only sludge was on the underside of the valve cover itself

Drained the cleaning phase oil and ARX.

Oil was very clean, and so was the canister filter.

I'm 400 miles into the rinse phase with Valvoline Max Life 10W-40. Engine is smooth, no change in mpg or responsiveness, yet.

did 2 arx treatments on my 95 525i (about same engine) and observed similar results. See my post. The filter had only small particles in both the clean and rinse phases. no real change in gas mileage. However, car ran smoother within first 1000 miles. Now running Castrol syntec 5w50.

After this rinse phase, I'm going to try some of the green 0w30 German Castrol Syntec, and see how the engine likes that.

If it needs a thicker oil then I'll use Redline 5W-40, but I have a huge stash of GC.

It is hard to observe any mileage gains, when human nature causes us to enjoy smooth hard acceleration. It's easy for the right foot to negate the available economies.

True dat!

I'm about 800 miles into the rinse phase and there's no doubt the engine is running much better.

The engine revs better and has a great sound; power and smoothness are improved!

From what I have read, most of the effect of ARX is felt during the rinse phase. Also, the effect continues on the second application for high mileage engines.

In an engine like yours that is relatively clean, I'm guessing the most beneficial part of ARX'ing will be cleaning of the ring-packs for an improvement in compression, and therefore improved power/fuel economy.

Please keep us posted.

I think your engine will like the GC. Terry Dyson thinks it's the right oil for my M54 BMW engine based on used oil analysis.
