Actually purolator being owned by the Germans means that alot of money (apart from what stays here in employees pockets) is going to go to Germany. If you purchase from an American company more money will stay in this country.

I will buy inferior products to keep money here. Because eventually none of us will have jobs, when the manufacturing secotor hits the fan it will affect almost every other type of buisness in this country. We cant survive on retail.

+1

I don't buy American products that are inferior or over priced. I am careful to buy American products if they are competitive with foreign ones. The Purolator Classic is one more cheap dome end bypass filter. No reason to buy it instead of ones from an American company.

Ok then maybe you can answer this question. What is consider a "quality" filter? Where is the line drawn? The ST 7317 i've been putting on my in law's cars and truck has treat them well for their 3K / 6 months OCI. Are you saying that's not a quality filter because it's not over $3? Who's to say that wouldn't be a quality filter? you? Look at the ST Bill posted not long ago that went 7K+ miles. It's less than $3. Seems like a quality filter to me.

the ST7317 is a quality filter for the price you pay... way cheaper than the PH7317 but better... I used it for 15 minutes when I was doing a BG Quick Clean on my Protege, looked well constructed to me (for an el cheapo/retail [censored]) and I confirmed this afterwards by googling for the cut open pics (it's on a different forum, but you'll find it easily)... worth the $2.50 spent comparing to paying 2.5x more for an OCOD

that being said though, I still won't put it on my Protege because of how I drive it and what power the engine puts out now... it'll be fine for dino oil, bone stock everything, and 5k OCIs of course :) the ST7317 appears to have more than 4x less filtration media than the OEM Mazda Mahle (OC196) filter, which is what is making me say this... but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay

This is not the case with the wholesale and totally unthrottled manner in which trade is conducted here.

We will have to become poor enough to reverse the tide and we've got the vast majority of the planet to compete against.

Best of luck on a truly even playing field.
The funny thing about that is that I think we are now the ones taking advantage. China keeps swiping our credit card and now I think they may be getting concerned whether they will ever see full payment.

As crazy as that sounds to buy a inferior product just becuase it has a American name on it,I sometimes I feel that way when I buy new cars and trucks, I cant seem to get myself to buy anything but Ford, GM or Dodge, even though they are assembled anywhere but here. I still buy Purolator though. Its a good filter and its convienient. The U.S is still the top exporter of weapons, so let them make the oil filters and toys, as long as we make all the missles, ammo, guns and expolsives, its all good.
