ON, Canada eh?
For all the Canucks living in Ontario. YES!!!!!!!!!,
Also "yes" is the fact that they want to issue tickets to slow people in the passing lane.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing makes me more angry in the day than slow people in the passing lane going below even the 100km/hr limit (62mph)

For our American friends here is the speed conversions so the article is easier to understand:

100km/hr = 62mph (Current speed limits)
110km/hr = 68mph
120km/hr = 75mph

There isn't a winter limit imposed now, people that know how to drive in snow will naturally slow down. Regardless of the speed limits now there is always accidents in the winter because people are stupid. It's bad weather here more than anything else in most parts of the country so why it's such a hard concept is beyond me.

It's going to be 120 but how awesome would 140 be? 140 in the passing lane would be unreal! Especially if slowpokes get tickets for dawdling!

40% increase in the speed limit might be a little drastic, though.

The 400 is one of the most dangerous roads in the world isn't it ? But I suspect it's one of the busiest too .

401is one of the busiest divided highways in the world. 400 most dangerous? ...show me the stats, I have a hard time believing that one.
I have driven both, many times, on my commutes to Toronto.

Why not?
The Ontario 400 series highways are situated in some of the best winter driving conditions for the states or Canada.
Yes, you are expected to slow down and drive according to conditions when roads get slick or visibility is reduced.

The last time I saw a differential limit was a day versus night highway speed limit when I was a little kid. That was at the early part of the metric rollout. I think it was 65 or 70 mph day, and 55 mph night, with 55 mph all the time for truckers.

I'm sorry it's the 401 that is in top ten most dangerous roads .

I'm on the 401, 400, 427, 407, 403 almost daily and have had 0 issues accumulating over 1,000,000km (600K miles) on these highways.

Yes people up here from California just drive faster to get out of the snow!

I've driven all over the US. The absolute speed hounds are those in West Virginia. My god those folks wait for no one. Fog, heavy rain 75mph up and down the hills. Scared the crap out of me and I'm a lead-footed driver.

Long stretches of I-80 and I-15 in Utah are also 80 mph.

I regularly drive 130-140km/hr (80-86mph) I know where all the radars hang out usually.

Oh and no accidents because I only do it where safe to do so and in weather permitting.
The 407 (expensive toll highway) which I drive on frequently, is like a qualifying track in the left-lane most of the time for most.

This is not going to become law in the next week, months or even ever. It is going to be tested in areas with low congestion first - (not GTA) and then the safety nannies will harangue, fret, attempt to scuttle.

Keep an eye out in the Pine Valley stretch of the 407, the OPP love setting up laser traps there. Apparently they have nailed some really fast moving vehicles along that spot!
