i am wondering if anyone has found a proper sp3 replacement for girlfriends upcoming trans flush. i dont want to have to go to the dealer for the fluid, and would like to use syn as a replacement fluid that wont kill the transmission

I just spent many hours researching this, and this is what I just did:

I took it on a 500 mile trip this weekend and it is just fine. It is synthetic too. Many others are using amsoil with good results too.

I used the supertech from walmart. 12 quart flush at $2.97 per quart.

The guys on the eclipse forums will swear up and down to only use sp3. The guys on 2gstratus forum (also nothing but mitsu engines and tranies there) swear up and down to only use atf+4. So far so good for me with atf+4

Usual disclaimer: use anything other than SP-III and if the transmission breaks while under warranty, you might be denied warranty coverage. Where do you go from there? I don't know but my wife just purchased a 2007 Hyundai Elantra and I have to weight the benefit of maybe superior fluid versus risk of denied warranty.

I've used the Amsoil,Castrol Import Multi vehicle, and ATF+4 with no adverse affects This VOA shows SPIII to be on the weak side.http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/s...ge=1#Post900655
