Anyone know of any aftermarket air filters for Briggs? Their air filters (like their oil filters) are >$15 - very over priced. I've tried my local AA (who used to carry a $7 replacement)and Az with no luck. Thanks

NAPA carries some models, but I doubt you'll get any savings. You can put the OEM number in the lookup site and see if you get a part number. I'd prefer to mail order from some of the small engine parts websites (like smallenginepartswarehouse.com) or lawn mower sites (like mowtownusa.com). I'm still searching for one that has everything I need at the least cost. I would caution that aftermarket airfilters may or may not fit as snugly as the OEM. The NAPA filter I picked up for my 6.5 Intek also fits my Honda GCV (though a different NAPA part number). Since air is pretty critical on these engines I've just found the OEM is a better value for my dollar. Ordering a couple for several different engines equalizes the shipping. Stens is a typical aftermarket maker and may in fact make the OEM filter, but I just sleep better knowing I have the right part. I'm not as finicky about the oil filters.

I like TSC but they are expensive on B&S parts. They do carry the Arnold line which may have a cross to the B&S part number and should be lower in cost. May want to try Lowes who is usually cheaper than TSC. I possible good online source would be Jack' Small Engine Shop. But you want to watch shipping costs that could negate your savings.

You could give K&N a phone call and see if they can cross it over to a K&N air filter. If they can you can order it in person at you local Pep-Boys and save on shipping. K&N are pricy, about $33. Plus you will have to get a K&N filter clean and oiling kit for another $10 (Pep-Boys stocks them).

The K&N filters are cleanable and will last the life of your engine. Because the filter for OPE are small the clean and oil kit will last a very long time.

IMO K&N isn't a good choice for anything in a dusty environment. They simply don't filter as well. I have one installed on my vehicle knowing it doesn't filer as well, but it also doesn't see nearly as much dust as a piece of equipment like a mower will.

Lowes sells a surprising amount of Briggs parts, actually more than the lawnmower shop had!

I bought a diaphragm from them for 3 dollars, and noticed they had a ton of oddball parts right in stock.
