Hi

I desperately need a pair of tough work gloves that also very warm to use basically for snowblowing. Waterproof enough and durable. I buy a cheap pair of gloves and they get soaked and rip on the metal of the levers etc.

Budget is (mittens I have are 20+years old).

Recommendations?

I'd get some insulated w/leather outer gloves.

I cant imagine they would get soaked through snow blowing.

2pair for 25$ or so

I use the uninsulated ones so my hands dont sweat, I have a good pair that ran 20$ and a 3 pack of cheapo ones that were 18$ for 3

RJ, Google lineman's gloves. I use a pair like these for snowblowing. The reflective cuffs are great for the end of the driveway too. Mine are a perk from work.

I live coastal so a lot of our snow is heavy and wet/(near slush). My machine clogs constantly.

Recent temps have been 0-10F doing this and my hands freeze.

My fingers froze the last storm, so I ended up getting an xl pair for 25 bucks and then using my removable liners from my L pair - effectively doubling up the liners. That worked OK at -17C for 45 mins.

Man those fingers ache BAD when they are thawing out - like major tooth ach in the fingers!

Maybe heated gloves?

A pair of heavy mittens with jersey gloves inside. I keep the jersey gloves on when I have to do finer work, and the mittens with jerseys inside when I'm just running the tractor.

And if it's really cold? A HotHands warmer in the fingers of each mitten, and a heat pack in the toes of each foot. I can stay out for hours in sub-zero temperatures with the warmers.

I get the insulated leather ones from lowes or HD. $10 and I also use them for welding. The leather is a non-suede (smooth) that water beads off of for a couple years.

Also pay attention to what you are wearing for pants and jacket. Keeping your core warm or slightly overheated promotes blood flow to your hands and feet and you will be able to get away with just decent $40-50 leather mitts that won't wear out quickly.
Dressed for ice fishing, I can get away with no gloves at all for 10-15 minutes in moderate -5C just sitting around.
Dressed that way, I'd just use my $10 insulated leather work gloves for something as active as snowblowing.
