Not Seattle, but close.
It's raining here, and the air has the distinct aroma of fish.
I've never smelled that here, although back home there was a fertilzer company across the river that cooked menhaden to use in their products. This isn't that kind of smell, though, it smells just like a fish pulled out of the water. Weird.

Interestingly, the same thing happened to me here a few months ago. I could smell Lake St. Clair from Livonia (30 miles SW) one night when (I guess) the meteorological conditions were just right. For all the 51 years living in this area, I've never smelled that "lake smell", which made this an odd occurrence.

No. Just warmer than usual last night. As you know we aren't too far upstream of the Snoqualmie - aren't you near a crick?

Besides smelling a rat, perhaps something fishy is going on.

Not fish exactly, but. Bogalusa, LA has a large paper mill. Growing up in NOLA 90 miles south of the town with a strong north wind we would just say, "I smell Bogalusa." Later when I worked there for over a decade the locals would comment, "That's just the smell of money." Once I met a pulmonologist who stated that the Bogalusa hospital was a prized internship for that specialty because of all of the rare lung conditions that were seen there. I was not unhappy to leave. Now let me tell you about Port Sulphur...

That would definitely be breaking the R rule.

I had to go there to clean up after Katrina. Not a place I would ever want to call home...
