Pennzoil has their "active cleaning agents," and Castrol has the "tri sheild technology." Both claim to remove sludge and prevent it. Is there any weight to these claims or is it all marketing tactics? I like using QSGB and they dont advertise anything about their cleaning ability, just curious on what yall thought.

Any API SN oil should have cleaning abilities. Pennzoil does have a healthy dose of Calcium, which is a detergent. So yeah I guess you could say they can back up there statements. I dont know much about Castrol though. Use any API SN synthetic and I wouldn't worry about cleaning.

Just to make sure we re clear.1000 calcium +800 of magnesium is pretty close in term of detergent compared to say an oil that has 3000 of calcium.the durability of the detergency potentiality will be longer in the calcium+magnesium combo.google it researcher spent a bit on this
