2011 e350 mecredes sport package

I need to change out the brake fluid on this car and I cannot decided which fuilds I need to buy. Brake fluid was never changed. Front/Rear rotors/pads was changed 1k mileage ago.

I've used Pentosin DOT 4 per the spec in mine forever, does the 212 spec either one? If so, worry not and just follow the Benz spec and motor on happily

But with that said, I used ATE Superblue for years in my F350 and never had issues, always looked surprisingly new after 2 years of WET climate usage in such a heavy truck, so I do know ATE is top grade stuff, and IIRC I used ATE pads and rotors on my last brake service in the CLK

Mercedes still calls for a DOT 4 SUPER fluid AFAIK, in this case, the OEM stuff or ATE Type 200.

SL6 comes really close to the wet/dry boiling points of DOT 4 SUPER and you'll again near transparent ABS/ESP operation when it's summoned. Go for it.

Mercedes typically specs Dot 4+, but that's not really a normal spec like Dot 3 or Dot 4. I'd go by the wet and dry boiling points. I've used Pentosin Super Dot 4 which has been recommended in the forums in the past, but there's also lots of other Dot 4 plus fluids out there with better specs. I'd just use regular Dot 4 and not any LV types. Those two you've mentioned seem to have better wet/dry boiling point specs so I'd just go with whatever is cheaper. Pentosin isn't that bad at Advance Auto, you can use a coupon code code with it.

There should be a Daimler BEVO sheet for approved fluids.

Need to verify if LV or regular viscosity is required.

SL6 is the correct fluid. The OE MB fluid is low viscosity but has the dry/wet boiling points of a super dot4. SL6 is the closest match that I have found.

What if I use Type 200?. Will I need to change it out more often than sl6? I'm thinking about doing diy. Anyone know how much brake pressure hold if I buy the bleeder kit. Don't want to pressure too much than what it take. You guy are saying that I will be fine with dot 4 or dot 4 plus.

Since you have "sport package"...so that means that your car has " upgraded" ABS system (ASR, TCS, ESP,...)

I would use SL6 wich is basically DOT4 with LV properties...that way your ABS subsystems will work @maximum...

ATE SL6 would be the best from that brand.

You should also consider Bosch ESI6 or Ravenol 5.1. Both are available at a good price on Amazon

The sport package was more of an appearance package and maybe the rotors are better. Sport might also be lower on the suspension.

MB doesn't really spec an LV fluid so I'd just stick with the Dot 4 plus. I wouldn't use a regular Dot 4 as that has lower wet and dry boiling points. The other ones mentioned are Dot 4 plus anyway.

As for the amount, usually one liter/quart is enough to flush the brakes. MB is very conservative with their flush recommendations and it's supposed to be every 2 years, but you're probably fine to go a little longer considering Dot 4 is less hygroscopic than even Dot 3 and some manufacturers don't even have a flush interval for their Dot 3 systems.

I have decided to go with Type 200.

@Wolf359 everything you said up there you are right. I was just researching on sl4 and said it was recommended for older model mecredes. I wanted performance and that's why I went with Type 200.

It's annoying that MB won't specify anything but their own fluid. They could be standing on the point that Dot 4+, DOT LV and all of the other low viscosity designations of DOT 4 are simply marketing terms as there isn't an official DOT 4 standard for low viscosity fluids. There is a European standard which isn't at all memorable so escapes me without looking it up.

For what it's worth I use SL6 in my MB.

You should be fine with that, has even better specs than Pentosin Super Dot 4. I just got that because it was easy to get at Advance Auto and it's just a tad over $10 when you use their 25% off coupon code.

Sorry guy I didn't have time to reply back: my last question is do I really need to bleed it with motive brake bleed product? What is correct way to bleed the brake vs 1 person or 2 person method?

My brake fluids coming tomorrow and I did not order motive brake bleeder.
