Every morning I move my truck to let my wife's car out then pull back into the driveway then shut her off. Is this short start and shut off detrimental to the truck? By doing this will the motor have a tendency to sludge? I have a 2009 Dodge Ram Hemi and I use Valvoline synpower full synthetic. Thanks

You're probably fine.

How do you drive the truck otherwise? How often do you change the oil? How much oil does it take?

Possibility of condensation or even fuel dillution doing that( long term )unless you take it out later and run it long enough to get up to temp and burn any moisture/fuel off. I would be more concerned about doing that in cold winter temps than summer as well.

Not really an issue as said as long as you drive the truck enough to reach normal operating temp each day too. Should be fine.

ok, thanks. I do drive the truck later on in the day for 20 to 30 miles. I also change the oil every 5 to 6 thousand miles.

X2. No worries.

all those extra starts(a hefty fraction of engine wear is from startups) with no miles added to it means you won't get as much miles out of your engine. i'd park in the street if possible.

I wouldn't worry, especially with driving it that far later on.

Sometimes I worry about what I do though: 1 mile to family members house, off for a while, then 1 mile back. Sometimes a few days in a row with no other driving, and sometimes it sits a few days after doing that... talk about fuel dilution haha
