Shell Rotella syn 5W-40 now in CJ-4

The RTS CI-4+ formulation is one of the best low wear producing oils out there. I'd venture to say that the CJ-4 will follow suit. I noticed on the tech data sheet that the TBN is listed at 10.6, which is healthy for a CJ-4 oil.

I have yet to see it on the shelves, unfortunately...

I was checking the fancy new bottles at Walmart tonight...still CI-4+. Same thing at TSC. Those are the two hot spots for 5e40 Rotella around here...

Do you guys think it would be ok to use synthetic rotella 5w40 in my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L? I was considering using the walmart supertech 5w30 synthetic too but I like 40 wt. What do you guys think?

It meets the SM spec, so yes you should be good to go.

My Wal-Mart now has the CJ-4 as I just bought 3 gallons of it!!!

Container looks the same except for a little note on the bottom right of the front and the updated specs met on the back.

The gallons just hit the shelves here, still have quarts of CI. My neighbor with tuned duratec turbo diesel was freaking out about and offered to by stash of 22 qrts of CI yesterday for 5$/qrt versus what I paid of 1.50$. Obviously I took him up on it. Not been very impressed with it anyway in my direct injection gas application. Smells very strong of gas versous the other oils that have been in it for the short mileage on it so far.

May try it again though in the CJ. Is the concern for the emissions system degradation now really gone with the SM designation?

Local wally has CI, Advance has the CJ-4, so it's being phased in my area. I wouldn't mind trying this new stuff b/c it meets the ford spec supposedly according to RTS.com
