Hello to all!! this is my first post and I'm new to the site.

I have seen the discussion of different oils and most of them if not all meets the specifications for modern automobiles.

But I have a doubt or at least curiosity about some oil. A friend on mine opened a new shop and he offered me free oil change. So I took it. Now he used Shell ecobox which I have tired to find reviews or at least the name of the oil in them.

He used 5w30 as specified by manufacturer but I still dont know what type of oil comes in those ecoboxes. Does anybody have experience with this oil? It is any good?

formula shell or pennzoil? They are not the same line of oil for Sopus.

I think formula she'll since you said shell ecobox and not pennzoil ecobox.

Its not Pennzoil. It's Formula Shell, it's a good oil. Run it like you would any other good conventional.

The local SOPUS distributor just set me up as the exclusive ecobox LOF joint in the district. [They're worried about unscrupulous businesses refilling them, they say I'm the only one they trust.]

In the Powerpoint presentation the photos showed both Pennzoil and Quaker State. I don't remember if it showed Shell products too or not.

In Mexico only Pennzoil has been made available in ecoboxes and only in the following flavors:
5w-20 PYB, 5w30 PYB, 10w30 PYB, 0w-20 SN PP, 5w-20 SN PP, 5w30 SN PP, 5w-40 SM A3/B4 PU-e.

I currently offer 10w30 PYB, 5w30 PP and 5w-40 PU-e. I have ordered 5w-20 PYB and it is on the way.

In the ecobox format my cost is WAY LOWER than any other premium lubricant with the exception of 55 gallon drums. It is a great idea, much less waste. Each box contains 24 quarts, made of heavy recyclable cardboard. Inside is a clear plastic bladder that can be wrung out thoroughly, much less waste than the oil that sticks inside each bottle. Between the bladder and the tap there is maybe 3 bottles worth of contaminated plastic, versus 24 contaminated quart bottles or 4 to 5 jugs.

So far I'm satisfied with the sales of Pennzoil, only former emigrants have heard of it, I think it is Pennzoil's first modern incursion into Mexico. They gave me quite a bit of swag to give away in the beginning which helped a lot. I mention how great GTL is, what it is, and that they're the only ones that have it in my sales pitch.

I have asked them to solicit Pennzoil High Mileage in ecoboxes, we'll see what happens.

Very nice! If I recall correctly, there are Formula Shell boxes in Canada, too. NAPA sells the stuff up here; I'd have to see what the lineup looks like out of curiosity.

I'll PM you the Powerpoint presentation if I can figure out how...

...or not. Apparently documents can't be attached to a PM.

Oh well, and I was going to provide you with a NAPA link from up here, and of course, it's gone from their site. A 2012 sell sheet shows most Pennzoil and Quaker State varieties available in the ecobox, along with Rotella 15w40, 10w30, and 5w-40. I couldn't find a mention for Formula Shell, though, oddly enough, but this sheet is a little dated.
