STE wasn't too bad. At least it had hot chicks...
I just hope they put up a good ST movie, but their record puts the odds against it.

Totally agree. I mean to me I actually felt I was there.....well sorta. Although maybe it's the least traditional Trek series, and certainly no Kirk grittiness, I was always riveted.

Absolute favorite line (from one of the movies):

Maybe you have to be an engineer, but that line is excellent. It still makes me laugh.

They wrote well for DS9. Lots of blemishes in the characters. I really enjoyed Garak. TNG did pathetic writing for the resident women.
Although the Treks had the most popular appeal, I'd still give the best package of a scifi series to Bab5 for a 5 year run without too much filler. They also didn't rely too much on pulling some "multi-phasic" effect out of thin air.

I have to agree on B5. Best sci-fi show ever IMHO.
The current Battlestar was great the first season, but fizzled quickly.

I watch BG but I've never really been able to get a handle on the story. It just seems broken up with one piece not well connected to the next. Maybe a little to avant-garde for my level of intelligence....

I also agree with Gary, Babylon5 was great, but you need to watch it without much interruption so you don't get lost.

Good to see a lot of Sci-Fi addicts here. The new BSG is good, but I still want to slap around whoever at Fox abruptly cancelled the Space: Above and Beyond series in the 90's.
I'd like to slap, paint blue and haul up a flagpole whoever at Fox abruptly cancelled Firefly. Good writing like you didn't see anywhere else, an enjoyable anachronistic setting, interesting dialog and so forth.
I never could get into Firefly. An explanation as to who the bad guys were would have really helped.
I liked Firefly too.

That's the point of the show, though! Joss Whedon writes complex, dramatic characters who are trying to figure out for themselves if they are good or bad. I enjoy Firefly partly because it shows the flipside to a show like Star Trek.

Firefly gets rerun on the Si Fi channel about once a year. Or so it seems. I thought it was good. I Like Dr. Who, and Torchwood may develope into a good show.
I miss Farscape. One of my sons gave me a set of dvds of the original Twilite Zone for Christmas.
I still rate B5 as tops though.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned either Hercules or Xena.
...well, to be totally honest, I always viewed those shows as trash set in fantasyland, not any kind of hearty sci-fi.

Kinda true, but still fun, and good actors having fun. Bruce Campbell, Kevin Johnson, not mention the half-naked women.
Don't forget Brisco County Jr. That was so tounge-in-cheek it could give you a sore mouth.
