Speaking of cupcake games at Cameron Indoor Stadium... NW Missouri State, Fort Valley State, Colorado State, Central Arkansas... the #1 ranked team in the country could do lots better than this.
Mixed into that, a game with Kansas, on a neutral floor... to help protect the home non-conference winning streak.
SFA fixed that intentional scheduling plan.
You failed to mention that Kansas was #3 when then #4 Duke beat them. Duke also beat Georgetown in that tournament. Duke plays Mi State next week. It would make no sense to schedule a lot of top 25 teams against each other this early in a 35 game season. Half the top 25 teams would drop out before conference play even begins. That's what the early season holiday tournaments are for. Mi State was preseason number 1.....before losing to Va Tech. Number 1 Kentucky lost to Evansville in Rupp arena a few weeks ago. Last years NCAA champs UVA barely beat Arizona State this week. Most small D1 schools are honored to play in these historic venues win or lose. Winning against a number 1 team on their turf is something these players will never forget, and good for them! All top teams schedule a lot of under dogs so when David slays Goliath, it makes the college game even better and beating a class act such as Duke and coach K makes it even sweeter! As I stated earlier, the cream rises to the top in March!
