Due to gravity. There was a short lived spike of the gravitational pull in that area at the time the planes hit the towers. I'm pretty sure there is a Star Trek episode that explains the phenomenon in more detail, as I'm sure there is also a movie that explains how metal things vaporize, just like the plane that hit the Pentagon.

I was listening to the news on the radio when they announced an aircraft had hit one of the WTC buildings.

My first thought was it must be some drunk pilot in a Cessna.

After the 2nd newsflash About the pentagon, I turned on the TV.

I was in the 1st grade sitting in class and remember other kids talking about about it, that's how I heard about it.

I was out of contact with the media (TV/radio) that morning,I eventually got into my car around 1130 and heard something about it figured it was some natural disaster. Then walked into Wal Mart and back then they had large screen TVs hanging from the ceiling.I thought it was a movie playing.

Our IT manager at the company I worked at then heard about the first plane hitting the tower and dragged a TV out of the conference room and set it up in the break area. We saw the second plane strike live. "That was no accident." We were trying to put together a financing deal with an investment firm that was housed in the WTC. Needless to say, that deal was lost.

and MAYBE he's golfing
maybe he is on a plane to hawaii
maybe he is deleting his emails
maybe he is meeting with Ahmadinejad
maybe he is meeting with al-Assad

bottom line is that if it is important to him he would make time..... ?

it is all just speculation

only thing we actually know for sure is he didn't attend the ceremony

it is difficult to reason with someone when O can do no wrong in their eyes, ever
he is perfect

Speculation indeed. And it sounds like you want to believe it's worst-case and would rather be [censored] off then give him the benefit of the doubt.

well.... given his track record of skipping, ignoring, important ceremonies it isn't surprising

it is just REALLY interesting how he decides to use his time

WILL call trevon martins family (the thug who assaulted a police officer)

WONT call the family of the marine murdered by the Terrorist in Tennessee

go figure

Two reasons, one alone may not have been enough to bring it down.

1. It had been on fire for hours. Water lines were ruptured, so fire fighting attempts were almost fruitless.
2. None of these buildings were built on dirt. They were all built on a substructure of pilings, parking garage, and infrastructure tunnels. All of this was structurally compromised by the collapse of the two towers.

Conspiracy theorists like to think of themselves as creative and intelligent people, but a complete lack of understanding of point #2 reveals the truth about that.

Right. The POTUS never has any valid reasons for not being in two places at once. Got it.

Stop being bent out of shape about it and move on with your day.

btw i have a problem with lowering the flag in this instance. It should be full mast as a sign of strength..IMHO.

I have some really beautiful flag imagery here. Taken right now.. Sun came out. And while I would like credit and thanks or praise for taking them.. that takes a backseat.. This is for those who died.

I hope anyone emotional today can be helped out by these.

I'm in Bayonne Park. Waterfront.

To mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, President Obama is asking all Americans to observe today as an officially designated Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, with acts of selflessness and charity.

This morning the President, the First Lady, and members of White House staff gathered on the South Lawn to observe a moment of silence on at 8:46 a.m. EDT - the time that the first airplane struck the World Trade Center.

The Vice President will deliver remarks at the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride Kickoff at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.

Later today, the President will spend time with service members for a live, worldwide televised Troop Talk town hall at Fort Meade in Maryland.

One day a year. Got it.

Lets focus more on those who died, not politics, though this current President is as poser as they come - and you would cringe if you knew his true beliefs.. Obama The Man vs President Obama are two very very different people (but don't ask CNN and MSNBC that.)

[censored].

Ok, re-focus.. Let's honor those that died.

You're welcome.

None of my grandchildren were alive for 9/11. How important will it be to them? I was not alive for Pearl Harbor, but I understand the significance of it. With the terrorists our there and many large cities of several million, I doubt this will be the last terrorist attack on our country.

But there is a perspective here, on 9/11 about 3500 people lost their lives. In WWII the total loss in all countries involved, military and civilian, was 70 to 80 million. Vietnam was 65,000 US military killed and another 65,000 have committed suicide since.

I remember getting off work and driving to my then gf's house a few miles across town that evening. Traffic was backed up everywhere around gas stations with people waiting to fill their cars up,and the grocery stores were literally selling out of everything.

The day was a game changer in a lot of ways for me. I was never, ever angrier as news unfolded, basically with thoughts of how dare they do this on American soil.

In a broader perspective, it changed a lot of little things. I remember the days that if I was driving to the U.S., and I had a Saskatchewan plate up front (that was when we had front plates) and I was driving something semi-roadworthy, I'd be waved through into the U.S. without being stopped, let alone needing a passport. The worry was always coming back, since Canada is petrified of someone coming back with a bottle of whiskey that isn't taxed through the roof.

My parents were scheduled for a business meeting on the 87th floor the day after the attacks.

Sadly that never came to be. I always wonder what would have happened if 9/11 occurred on 9/12.
