I took the advice seen here (excellent idea imho) of using one of the emptied quart bottles and cutting the bottom out for a funnel. I do this to make the 5 quart containers easier to deal with when pouring.

In any case, I was surprised with the sediment (not a ton, but still visible) on the bottom of both the single quart and the 5 quart jug. Anyone else notice this? What is the stuff?

For the record I shook each container before emptying and I was using Pennzoil Platinum.

Thanks

It happens sometimes, it's nothing to worry about though. I shake my oil before pouring it into the engine.

The only oil I`ve never seen the sediment looking stuff in is Mobil 1 and Valvoline VR1. All other oils I`ve ever used will always have that sediment looking stuff either where the oil level is in the bottle (a half used quart) or at the very bottom, settled within the grooves of the bottle.

Could said sediment maybe be some impurities that are still left in the oil that`s settling out?

Just shake the bottle, the oil is still good.

Yeah that way it will fall out in your engine , better left in the bottle IMO
Do not shake
