Looking to replace the wife's G35 ...
Candidates are VW cc, Hyundai Genesis and Taurus SHO.
Generally speaking, needs to be a relatively comfy ,quick 4-door. We've had VW's before (Jetta) and had little trouble with them, also a non SHO Taurus, but never a Hyundai.
How sayeth the readers of BITOG?

Drive them all and see what you like.

+1,,, I like reliability first but you have to like how the car feels.

If you like your car but it breaks, you can fix it.

If your car never breaks but you don't like it, you're stuck with it.

Why not get another G37? The new ones are fantastic, especially after the recent interior update.

P.S.

I'm can't wait to see who makes the suggestion of a Crown Vic!

I like that fact that the Taurus sits up a little higher and has a good amount of headroom. I can't speak for the other cars you mentioned. Those things may not be issues for your wife.

VW CC is the most stylish. But the Taurus isn't too bad on styling expecially from certain angles. Taurus is big on the outside, but not on the inside. SHO is AWD/turbo which means complexity and not so good on gas. Genesis is most sedate and practical. I don't like the high window sill, small windows of the Taurus, regal and most newer cars, but I guess that I am getting old.

I agree wholeheartedly and I'm still in my twenties, FWIW.

I drove the CC and the Genesis Coupe (my daughter owns the track version),both are great the the CC rides better and IMO looks a whole lot better.Handling and power with the V6 are very good in both.
Build quality is also excellent in both of them.

The Taurus and Regal are just to grey hair for me and i'm 52.
Maybe in 20yrs they will look better to me.Drive them i don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

And Troy_Built wins the prize.

Mazda6S.

It's certainly big. It went from the smallest mid-size in the previous gen to quite nearly fullsize.

It's 3.7 V6 is certainly quick.

Styling? I don't like the front fascia as much as the previous generation, but the rest of the car looks pretty good.

It's quite a bit quieter and a little softer than it's predecessor too.

Fusion Sport?

The Mazda6 is certainly good looking.
Unfortunately that car and Subaru Legacy both have become less good lookng, compared to their crisp/sharp looking previous generations. Ruining the looks of good looking cars is the style these days...The Fusion, however, still looks great, IMO, and is not too goofy/curvy.

I definitely agree with Troy_Built!!

My second choice would be the Fusion Sport like 97 T-Bird just mentioned.

What is the matter with the G35? I dont care for them, but they seem like nice enough cars.

For a basic sedan Id buy a stripped 328i.

Id look at the CC, but I doubt it is very utilitarian.

Taurus perhaps after a good test drive.

Id look at the sonata over the genesis.
