I am in the process of doing the light spring maintenance on my dads Sears lawn mower (crica 1961). I have about 1/2 litre+ of M1 15w50 tri-synth left. Do you think it would it be OK if I were to use this M1 oil and top up with a lighter weight ? Or would that be just a plain bad idea.

Thanks

Use the mobil in the lawn mower the 15w50 will work great. The oil won't cause any seal problems.

My dad has almost the same model.

He has an Eager-1 (silver chassis w/ Red engine panels). He uses SAE 10W-30. Tee manual states to use SAE 30 or 10W-30.

I tell him to use Pennzoil API SL 10W-30, cause it has moly and its low temp viscosity will allow it to lube the engine fairly quickly in a cold start.

My motor is the same I have used 15w50 Mobil1 Amsoil 10w30 Delo15w40 they all work fine .The lawn mower part will rot away before the engine wears out. Like my last one did .
