Driving it to the junkyard. Low oil pressure, rust everywhere. Not worth saving, selling, or parting out.

Anything I do to it, I'd like to still be able to drive afterwards, as I'll get slightly more $ driving it in.

1994 dodge dakota 2wd 3.9 v6 stick shift

Let the ideas rip!

BTW not involving buying anything.

Do an oil change and fill your crankcase with 100% MMO (zero motor oil) and see how long you can drive it around.

If you saw my cab mounts you wouldn't want to drive it on a washboard road.

So far I'm going to try that old trick of disconnecting the battery to see if the alternator works. Going to see if I can do a brake stand with a stick shift. If I had 4 bald 15" tires I'd mount 'em up then try driving over one of those parking lot tire puncturing devices.

It's at 147k but they aren't all mine. The guy ahead of me "fixed" the rotten rocker panels with crumpled up newspapers and bondo, so I can't take any credit or blame for the rest of the condition of this heap. I got it in march of 2011 for $550 so I'd have something to bang around in for supplies for refinishing my kitchen. Now I'm hoping with some scrap metal I've been accumulating I can get $400 driving it in to the yard.

I'll practice my VIN switching skills!!! Let me go grind off my fingerprints first...

If you have any young people in your relationship who will be learning to drive soon, you could take them to an open area and let them drive it some.

My brother did that with his son when taking their station wagon to the bone yard, and he told his son to try a neutral shot, rev it some with the transmission in neutral and drop it in gear. The kid over reved it and poped the radiator hose. No big deal. His wife was with them in another vehicle to drive them home.

That sounds like an advertisement for Slick 50!

Shame that a manual transmission Dakota is going to die...you dont see many manuals anymore....RIP Dakota.

Maybe you can remove the rear seats/bench and convert them into seating for your garage, like a couch.

Hello, My friend's 1995 Dakota rusted horribly. The frame broke in 2 places. He power-washed the breaks and adjacent areas so any prospective buyer could see where it needed to be fixed. The engine ran fairly well. He sold it, with the plow, to the first party who showed up. Was it not worth selling to a "person"? Kira

I don't want them coming back. Believe me if it had half a chance I'd sell it to someone who needed a ride to work or whatever. The frame has already been welded where the spring hanger rivets pass through. Now the crossmembers that go up and over the gas tank are shot. The oil light comes on at low idle. Something in the transmission is no good, output bearing probably, so it eats output shaft seals and sprays oil everywhere.

Passenger door doesn't open, the radio's dead, it leaks antifreeze. Battery nearly shot. Tires pretty poor. Hood is held closed by a piece of strapping metal and self tapping screws. The engine runs fairly poorly and doesn't respond to tune ups.

If I put it on craigslist the "wrong" people would show up, the types with no skills and little hope who would not do anything to it and it would quickly die. Then it would be a "hot potato" and I'd hear about it.
