Can't decide - but once I make the change from stock I don't wish too do it again.. it is just I heard so much from truck junkies/racers about AMSOIL - but then found Scheaffers and even though I really don't know all the tech stuff about either - I am really split down the middle on which way to go...

ps: 2004.5 cummins auto trans..

Both are excellent. Amsoil is easier to find. Schaeffer costs less, and probably costs less per mile. Schaeffer does not claim a mileage live, instead guided by analysis results. I've used both and stick with Schaeffer.

Yes I'll take the 2 gallons. I switched to 9000 Supreme and have noticed a huge difference in the noise and smoothness of my truck.

I changed the oil in my Powerstroke 6.0 on Sunday...had been running Delo 15w40...the Schaeffers 9000 is much smoother and less "diesel" sounding. i noticed the same thing in a VR6 Jetta...i realize it is no indication of protection but it certainly is quieter.

I would use Schaeffers all the way I have been useing Scharffers 7000 on the ranch for years now and it been well worth the extra $$$

Perhaps some uoa results would help. Use them both at the mileage limits claimed by the companies. The results could then guide you.

I changed the oil in my 7.3 Powerstroke several months ago from Delo to Schaeffer's and I can tell a big difference in engine sound. Like oliver88 said, it is much smoother and doesn't have as much of the diesel clatter. I also use it my two VW TDI's and they run smoother than ever before. I highly recommend Schaeffer's.

I to am 100% Amsoil the less than 100% Synthetics may be why the lesser cost

I really think Amsoil is the way to go with a PC account you can buy wholesale.

the good thing is that engine will last forever on either oil. thats just about the best engine out there right now imho.

true i have to say that i been using the scheaffers 9000 in place of my delvac 1 ..i just use it as an additve 1 qt to my 3qts redline and 1 qt motul...very pleased as is with delvac 1

In a cummins engine you could run peanut oil and last forever.

I "like" Schaeffers formulating ( boxcar the final formula's compete well against Amsoil) and the fact they are still family owned and not gone public, no MLM setup.

Amsoil is cutting edge formulating again ( from what I can see since they quit allowing lubrizol to dictate where they were heading. Hey they now have a long time LE tech guy there and I have NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR HIM.

Can't go wrong with either brands chemistry.

The MLM thing is what makes it easy to get AMSOIL.Plus it allows thousands of individuals to have a small business like Pablo,MSparks and myself, who also help out BITOG members with questions and concerns.

Don, I respect your opinion and happiness with the Amsoil business. I respect that. My Brother is still a Amsoil dealer, if his wife was not struggling with cancer he would more engaged in it.

However as a former Amsoil dealer and user of the the OAI lab for ONE of our sources of analysis data and my position as a businessman, I still gauge the MLM system as less than optimum. Just my opinion.

The lube products are excellent!
