Anyone know where I can buy some Schaeffer's Moly Bond X200? I'm particularly interested in the straight 30W grade. I'd like to buy a single quart, or at most a gallon.

Also, I'm interested in knowing what the additive package looks like, specifically the moly content. I looked for a VOA or a UOA on this oil and couldn't find any, and in fact found very few VOA/UOAs on Schaeffer's oils in general (which is surprising, perhaps it is pilot error on my part in driving the search engine).

In any case, I curious to find out where I could purchase some of this product.

Thanks,

Do a dealer search for your area(check web site)should have one by you, also check MSDS will give the moly %.

Schaeffer is tough because you have to buy a few hundred worth in order to get free shipping.

One quart is going to cost $5 in shipping plus the cost. Best bet is to try different dealers who stock it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Somehow I missed the dealer look up on the website. The nearest Schaeffer's dealer is about 80 miles away from me, which certainly isn't out of the question but it won't be in the next couple of weeks before I'll be able to get over there. If there is a Schaeffer's dealer that reads this that will ship for $5 ~ $6 bucks it might be worth my while to just buy it that way instead of taking a road trip.

Looking at Schaeffer's website, at the "Buy Now" section I don't even see Moly Bond 200 listed.

BTW, I did look at the MSDS and it just listed Moly as "<1%", which isn't surprising since 1% = 10,000 ppm and I'd hardly expect that amount of moly in any engine oil.

80 miles too bad,you could also make a trip of it and get other stuff, and yes the MSDS should be correct from what i've experience.

Yeah, I don't doubt that the MSDS is right, but at the same time it isn't enlightening. It says moly <1%. Sure, I don't doubt that, because 1% is 10,000ppm. No motor oil has 10,000ppm of moly (in fact, that much moly would likely be a *bad* thing). So, the MSDS tells me that moly is less than 10,000ppm. Does that mean 100ppm, 500ppm, 1000ppm, more? Who knows. The problem is that the MSDS is oriented around safety and apparently the government considers anything less than 10,000ppmm safe with respect to moly. Good to know if I'm concerned about the safety of the product, but doesn't tell me much if I want to know how much moly is actually in it. That's the thing about MSDSs, sometimes you can get useful information out of them, sometimes not.

Schaeffers Moly Bond 200 has the same moly and penetro content
as the Schaeffers 700 15-40 diesel oil series.

Thank you sir for the information. From your name I take it you might be a Schaeffer's sales rep?

You would assume correct, and a darn good one. He use to be a site sponsor here.

Do you have Carquest autopart stores near you?
About five years ago they had a limited stock of Sheaffers products.

Call them...they didn't list any local dealers on the website, but told me of several within 10 miles of me over the phone!

I absolutely love Schaeffer oil and use the 9000 series in my Duramax... but I wish it was easier to get.. I don't understand why the local autoparts stores don't stock it, or at least get it in for special order... I have to drive 40 miles to the other side of Portland to get mine..

when you consider the cost of fuel, my time and wear / milage on the 2011 truck... you're probably 100% right... but dang if I can't bring myself to pay $20 shipping for oil! lol
