Spec sheet says Grp II+ base oil, but I have seen older posts saying the 5W30 has a Grp III base. Not that it really matters but my curiosity is up on this with all the Grp III publicity lately. I'm running the SL GF-3 version of this oil in a 1GR-FE Toyota engine and should have a UOA in a couple of weeks. (Although the latest VOA of this oil sure looks more like SM GF-4.) Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Actually the Supreme is a Group II+ and PAO(Group IV). Plus it has a great additive package that allows this oil rival Mobil 1 SS. I use it in the wife's 2002 Explorer and my UOA's have been real good. The last UOA was for an OCI of 8200 miles WITHOUT using LC or FP. I'm currently running the Supreme with LC and FP. I will do an UOA at the end of May when I change out the oil. Should be over 8,000 miles on the oil by that time. Plus it will have run over the cold winter months with lots of idling and warm up times

Thanks for the info, I only have 3500 miles on my Yota at this point. I've been using FP on every tank and on the next oilchange I will start adding LC. I really like the Schaeffers but I'm still considering going to synthetic when my supply of Schaeffers runs out. I realize I will probably not see any better wear numbers, my biggest concern is deposit control. Although the LC should keep that under control if I continue with the Schaeffers. You know, your always on that quest for the best oil for your particular application.

Sully,
You can't beat Schaeffer's for clean engines. You can spend more, but you won't get much more, if any.

Schaeffer's first use of Group III is blended with PAO in their new #9000 5W-40 as far as I know. The other oils are the best petroleum base oil blended with PAO. There are only two refineries in the U.S. that produce this high quality petroleum base oil that Schaeffer buys. It is very highly oxidation resistant, and will be as deposit free as any.

Appreciate the input Ken, my first analysis will include Terry's recommendations. But I'm fairly confident in the Schaeffers and LC already.

These base stocks combined with our additive package which includes our micron moly, penetro and calcium detergency pkg is what seperates us. imo
