I agree. The numbers were already trending downwards on the 5w30 just due to break in time too.

I'd stick with the 5w30 here for sure.
 
Study this more closely . It looks like the 15w-40 was running hotter from being thicker or just some harder driving . Not enough info provided though .

It looks like the engine was ran in plenty well @ 15,500 miles

Question :

Does this brand 15w-40 use a different detergent/dispersant than it's 30wt PCMO's ?
