Satellite Lost

We worked hard on this last year, up in smoke. It's a bit sad when I think about GPS Satellites I worked on, touched, sweated about in the 1980's are still up there and one from just last year nosediving into Siberia. More details over the next few weeks I'm sure.

Didn't think anybody used hydrazine anymore. That stuff is really, REALLY nasty.

Soviets have used variants of the Proton for years - since the 1960's. I think Protons have been used for ISS related payloads, not sure though.

Hydrazine (monomethyl hydrazine) is somewhat nasty, but some of the best things in life are nasty. It's been a very sucessful liquid rocket propellent for 50+ years. I doubt the cause of this failure was "hydrazine".....
