This is more or less a "FYI" post:

Never seen it mentioned here before but while I was out at lunch today I seen a safety kleen truck pulling into Autozone.

I think the EcoPower product is really great! I saw a video of the re-refining process and since it is approved and licensed API product, I would consider using it.

I have never seen this stuff on a shelf. They must cater to large contracts and the federal government.

I see the Safety Kleen truck pumping out the tanks at Walmart quite frequently.

....and boy howdy do they ever. SK runs rampant here on post. They pump out all the used all tanks at all the motorpools. They then restock all the oil for the HEMMITTS, HUMVEES and MLRS engines. Now, I'm not talking the 4.5 quart stuff here, they sell it by the 55 gallon drum. All marked Safety Kleen, meets ARL spec....XXXXXXXX and 15w40. I couldn't believe my eyes when I found this out. I know enough about additives and oil from being on this site for years, but I would not be comfortable period putting recycled oil in my military spec, air cooled V-12's or other JP-4 burning V-8's. Just wouldn't.

Why not?

Re-refined oil is coming from an already much higher quality product than originally refined oil is coming from (used motor oil vs crude). What's the issue?

No issue, just me personally. Too much unknown science out there still to make me warrant the use of a "previously" used oil. Never have, never will.

Preference is one thing, but like others said, it is rerefined, so if you think about it, the input to the refinery is cleaner than the dirty tar crude that come out of a dirt pit from some million year old substance.

If you look at the safety kleen website, they highlight a law that the US Government has on the books.

It states that all US Government vehicles need to use a re-refined motor oil or lubricant if it is available, and they can't use a virgin motor oil.

I think this is an EXCELLENT idea. Basically they aren't importing oil for use in government vehicles.

Here is a link to their recycled oil.

It appears that they are currently selling it at Autozone only in the Southeast.

For those that are uncomfortable using this product, please realize that it is the exact same quality as any other non-synthetic motor oil on the market. It is refined the same way. It meets API SM specs.

If I could get 5 quarts of this stuff for $7-$9, I would use it in every vehicle I have.

Remember, a 5 quart jug of Supertech is 9.50, and Quaker state is 10.50..

I'd be interested to see what Autozone charges for this stuff, anybody know?

I don't use non-synthetic in any of my motors. I know it costs more, but the results can't be argued with. Sure others may have similar experiences with dino's or recycled, but to me, it's a peace of mind. Hey, I still think thicker is better!!!!!0W-20 or 5W-20 pppppppppfffffffffffffftttttttttttttttt.....

I use to work for the Chemical Service side of SK, before they sold that branch off to the company I work for now.

We would pick up almost any sort of Hazardous or Non haz chemical waste, and ship them for treatment.

A big part of what SK does is swap out parts washers and the solvents that go with them.
