About two years ago I decided to try out the E3 Spark plugs. Well, about 2 weeks ago I ended up replacing them and going back to ac delcos. My engine was running very rough at idle. I changed the air filter and nothing got better. Then I ran some amsoil injector cleaner through and it helped a little, but not much. I ran the codes on the engine and found multiple misfires on 5 and 2. I pulled the plugs on those cylinders and both were wet and black. I swapped them with a different cylinder and got misfires again.
I went ahead and replaced all 8 plugs and boy, the truck never ran smoother.

I had 17,000 miles on those (super) plugs, and 2 died. I never noticed anymore power or fuel mileage increase either.

I really cant say they worked any better than a simple copper plug.

If you have had different results, let me know, but from my experience the plugs are a joke.

The best spark plugs are the type that your car came with.

I have a 1983 Chevrolet El Camino and the best spark plugs are the AC Delco's which my car probably had coming off the assembly line.

I have a 2004 Mercury Marauder and I will be putting in whatever came from the factory, probably Motorcraft Spark Plugs.

On the El Camino I have used many different spark plugs and I never noticed any difference.

The only non stocks I've ever had luck with were denso iridiums.

The Pulstar, Halo, e3, and all the "super plugs" are just snake oil in my very humble opinion.

I think the stock plugs are the way to go for the average car. I have a set of Bosch Platinum plugs sitting here for my 93 Aerostar, someone had given them to me. I think I am going to go with the Autolite plugs the car calls for. It's too much of a PIA to re-do if the Bosch plugs don't work out.

Autolite plugs are great performing plugs for the money. I've got a set of single plats in my 92 taurus and a set of double plats in my 96 tahoe, was looking at AC Delco plats but Autolites were cheaper...

My take has always been the fact that "gimmicks come out on the market and gimmicks go after sometime due to poor outcome or various other factors combined". I personally do not trust any gimmicky sparkplugs out on the market (instead, I would go for Champions, NGK,AutoLite, AC-Delco, Bosch, etc.) for they have been around for over 50+ yrs, and they have a reputation to keep.

Sorry,I don't trust any "fly by nite" products, period.

Q.

I haven't had any experience with the E3s, but last time I changed plugs on my 96 Merc GM O'Reillys book suggest the Autolite irridium plug. Says that's what is called for now in the Ford 4.6. Anyway they have been in there one year and are working great.

I did a tune-up for a female friend's 2002 Ram Air Trans-am. Deal was, I'd change her plugs/wires, air and fuel filters if she brought the parts with her and $50. She was sold these E3's (not even platinum) and I hestitantly installed them. Car runs okay, though but I'd rather her of gotten the AC's, Autolite or Bosch brands of platinum. I hope they hold up because I really didn't enjoy changing those plugs out!

That's my fear with the Bosch Plugs in the Ford Aerostar, I've read stories of them not working as well as the Autolite plugs. Since the job is such a PIA I'd rather not gamble. I have time as I am going to wait until the spring before I do anything to it.
