returning used oil

Who says you have to pay for it??? It's your sisters reponsibility. Go to the store and explain what happened. They can track down the oil and in the mean time contact her and give her the chance to do the right thing.

What goes around comes around dude. Even if you are a witness to a wrong, karma will pay you back three fold eventually. This is about right and wrong. You need to say something. That is your one and only obligation.

FWIW, I think I speak for all of BITOG when I say none of us condone your behavior with regard to this "moral dilemma". Did you think you were going to get simpathy here??

It's not about WM; it's about the poor shmuck who buys that container of oil and ends up with used oil. It either ends up in his engine, or he has to return it, and probably get screwed by WM!

You're scum and shouldn't be ON this site.

Your sister obviously has the money. Why did you start this thread? Are you trying to assuage a guilty conscious or what?

And the difference between those worthless posts and yours would be morals and values. Yours of course containing neither.......

Wow, it doesn't matter that it's Wal-Mart it's just flat out wrong. I wouldn't be talking about it on an open forum either. What comes around goes around. But to each his own I guess.

Yeah, sociopaths do laugh when they hurt people. They don't have the ability to empathize. It's not their fault.

I had a customer take back a gallon of coolant full of water. We put it back on the shelf, another customer bought it and returned it no problem. It wasn't really a big deal.

I think you guys are being a little harsh on this guy. When did we all become moral crusaders for Walmart?

Barbs aside, lets put this situation on a more personal nature.

How would YOU feel if you went to WM, bought oil, and as you were pouring it into your engine, realized it was used oil?

You'd be furious about having to drain your engine, get to WM, and convince them they sold you a bottle of used oil.

You'd be cursing the guy that did this to you every name in the book. You'd swear you'd NEVER do that to someone. You wouldn't laugh it off or dismiss it......

I'm no moral crusader for Wal-Mart or anyone else for that matter, but I do know what is right and what is wrong. Returning used oil to any store is wrong!

How about the poor guy that buys that oil and possibly pours it in his car and then realized what he just did? Not nice! Sorry!

wow, i acutally hurt you? on the internet?

Nah, not me. Just the poor shmuck you buys the used oil.

Like I said, how would you feel if YOU bought the used oil?

Stealing is slealing. Pretty black and white really. I think we are being quite nice to this guy considering. He should have known better to post something like this on an oil forum.

obviously i would be furious. and as mentioned before, i will probably make it around to at least putting in an annonomyous call advising them of the situation.

Ok I agree this is wrong. But first he did say he might call so that at least nobody else will be able to purchase this used oil. The only person hurt was walmart. I am not saying this is right but as long as nobody has to go through the hassle of trying to return it this is not that big of a deal. And if you want to talk about morality then we should not judge others either.

The Wal-Mart where I shop checks to make sure the bottles are sealed. I check before I take any oil or filters home.

I can't believe just how harsh a lot of you are being. Tell him he needs to right his wrong, resorting to calling him a "sociopath" and "scum" is totally uncalled for.

Agree, however,

If I found out someone did that after I changed their car's oil, there would be no next time.
