Resting a hand on the shift lever while driving

With an auto...nothing happens/no issues. Do it all the time. In a manual yes, it can if you put some force on it...believe it can wear out the syncros.

Is it the synchros or shift fork bearings? (For the manual, that is). No issues for an automatic.

Not even truly a real thing in MT. I mean MAYBE if you drive with your arm resting with FORCE in the direction of any gear.

Just resting? No way.

Is it bad to rest your hand on the shifter? No it isn't.

Can you rest your hand on the gearshift knob while driving without it harming your transmission? That's a question that is hotly debated both on the web and off. And, as is normal with these types of disagreements, both sides are utterly convinced their opinion is the right one. Those who say...
