ON, Canada eh?
(Substitute poop for the other word)

I drained out my entire 10 liters of oil in my transmission which was Amsoil with Auto-RX Additive which had been in for 3K miles and I refilled with all Redline D4 and put a new inline Wix filter with magnetic base and filter element.

Let me tell you the difference. The OEM stuff was good, the Amsoil was far better, and this Redline D4 is the "POOP".

I absolutely love the stuff and will be using it from now on in this application where SPIII is needed.

I'm also sending a letter (e-mail) to Redline to thank them for the great product.

Just thought I would share with y'all!

Steve

Just got 4 quarts of D4 for my old F-450 ZF-5 manual-hope it works for me too! Everything I've read has stated that for an older Dex III/Mercon/V using trans-D4 is the way to go!

It surprised me that it like the Amsoil fluid can meet so many spec's even though those transmissions and my transmission are fussy on fluid spec's.

I have a trans in my Hyundai which is similar to Mitsubishi trans that are very fussy and will eat themselves if a SP-III rated/compatible fluid isn't used, in a short number of miles.

Great oil technology we have today...

My only beef (and its a good one) is that the fluid isn't "Red" enough to see on the dip-stick compared to Amsoil stuff and it's a PITA trying to see the level.

Small price to pay though for this quality of shifting...

I have tried D4 and have RP MaxATF in the tranny and prefer RP MaxATF over D4. D4 shifts were much too firm for my taste. I am glad you found your oil though Steve, enjoy!

Interesting... I will have to try RP when I'm due again then... I will have to see if they are SP-III rated though...

D4 is the best fluid I have used in my T45, 4R70W, and Ford power steering systems. Love it.

I guess some trans just like different brands, but my T45 shift quality degraded pretty fast when I used MaxATF several years back. Fords, Tremecs, and apparently Hyundais seem to love D4.

Good god, don't go saying that on any Hyundai forum. You'll be e-lynched.

I used D4 in my '99 Escort ZX2's manual 5 speed transaxle for 50K - great shifting in al temps and and no shift degradation during that period of time.

I agree, the Royal Purple Max ATF is the bomb diggity, but what I really love from RP is their Synchromax, wow that stuff is amazing and absolutely transformed my friends Mustang that had a manual tranny that called for an ATF... which is where the RP Synchromax does it's magic.

I was thinking the same thing Pablo. First off, Amsoil does not need any ARX to do its job.

I have run both Amsoil and Red Line D4 in one of my Element transmissions and could not tell any difference between the two of them. Both are excellent products.

As an experiment/testing, I am running RLI ATF in my wife's Element now and as of now it is working just fine.

I'm running D4 in my '96 Accord for the last 10k miles (did 4 drain and fills...just have to go overboard you know). I also added Lubegard Red to it (I know, I know...didn't need to but I did). The trans is FAR smoother than with the Z1 (still an occasional rough shift or downshift but that's the nature of these transmissions). OTOH I'm running Amsoil (lower viscosity) in my 2008 Impala and have been very pleased with it too (about 30,000 miles on it).

D4 is a fine product. I used to run it in a v8 Mustang with T5 manual. After switching to Amsoil, I haven't used anything else. I question the necessity of AutoRX with the Amsoil. If you had some sitting around, well okay, but I wouldn't have purposely gone out and bought some to mix with the Amsoil. I did do an AutoRX treatment before switching to Amsoil, then ran Amsoil exclusively.

If the D4 has improved your performance, then I think that's friggin awesome.
