Technically not exactly true. Esters (many, if not all) will hold any necessary additives in solution just fine. It's really a matter of cost. A 100% ester oil will be very expensive.
Majority esters with some small amount of PAO to offset seal swell. One of the only oils on the market today that is using high doses of POE base oils.
