i have been using straight talk on ATT for a few years . its been pretty good. i use less than 5 gb a month in data. So i was checking around the web for a better deal and i found Red Pocket mobile. they have a deal for $240 for 12 months of ATT with 5 gb data .

Reading some of the reviews it seems hit or miss. of course the web inflates neg stuff 10 fold many times. So has anyone here been using it? How do you like it?

Just from my experience I have bounced back and forth from carrier prepaid and to MVNO for many years and found with the MVNO there's always something missing. For me, I am no data junkie but I like the fact that I could walk into a store and say hey my phones not working and someone live could assist me also when I do travel within the state's I have unrestricted network access. I noticed with MVNO I often had no roaming in the plan and if I did only for certain features like METRO-PCS you could only text when roaming. I am on Verizon prepaid 3gb plan unlimited min and text i can travel walk into a store and be helped by a human in the flesh all for $44 a month including tax. I even have wifi calling so no need for a landline.

I was using pageplus but switched to Red Rocket. Have not had any issues. I believe I am using the Tmobile towers.

I have 2 lines with Red Pocket. One is a Sprint line the other Verizon. Both $10 a month. I'm on wifi most everywhere so I don't use a lot of data. The $10 a month also includes international calls. Zero complaints. Two Iphone 5s phones bought off of ebay.

To rswaw125: After you got your "Two Iphone 5s phones bought off of ebay." did you have to go somewhere to integrate the phones into their system?

If this is a simplistic question, sorry. Phones need SIM cards from the service company, no? Thanks, G&K

Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA. If I remember correctly they will mail you a SIM for fast data usage. I activated the phones on their web site and set up an account where both phones can be controlled. I was up and running pretty quickly. And very cheap.

I switched to Red Pocket from AT&T last December. Granted this is only a pair of flip phones so no data, but I went from ~$90/month to $25. My wife texts more than I do so she's on a $15 plan while mine is only $10. There were a few growing pains getting some of the settings on these obsolete phones set up correctly, but once that was done it's been great. The service is exactly the same as it was on AT&T. Kicking myself for not having done this sooner. I have a work provided iPhone fortunately so can't comment on the data plans.

Check out Cricket wireless, no games, no promtions, all prices include all taxes, meaning your actual payment.
Plus it's owned by ATT not an aftermarket company.

Maybe you provide a link because I am not seeing redpocket with 5 gigs for $20 amonth.
