Royal Triton was purple. A garage in Johnston City IL. I used to hang around some around 1955-60

Back in the 50's Gulf Oil's premium oil was Gulfpride. It was nearly clear with a lavender tint. We used a 55gal. bbl. of 30 weight in the summer and a 30gal. bbl. of 20 weight in the winter. Was pretty stuff and worked well.
Wasn't Arco Graphite used looking back in the day?

That's not a dumb question at all. I read a post earlier today where a guy said he had to take his new Subaru to the dealer for an oil change because he couldn't get the drain plug off.

You've come to the right place dg. You can pick the *@%$ with the chickens here and find soul mates even more obsessed with color than you are. Color of oil,color of filter,color of coolant, red,purple,orange,green, pink: bring it on. Lots of very knowledgeable individuals here too. Have at it. Nothing new under the sun here.
